“The Lady or the Tiger” Which Door?
In the story, “The Lady or the Tiger?” by Frank R. Stockton, the man opens the door and sees a huge hungry tiger. The princess he chose this door because she was "jealous"(303). The princess felt "she had lost him, but who should have him?"(303). The princess wanted "for him to die at once, and go to wait for her in the blessed regions of semibarbaric futurity" (304). The princess hated the maiden (302). The princess knew the maiden would be all blushing and radiant with flushing cheeks and sparkiling ey of triumph. The man’s fate was decided by the princess's jealousy and barbaric tendencies.
